About Counseling

The Basics

What counseling is and how it works.

What is counseling?+
Counseling helps individuals, couples, or families navigate challenges, improve communication, and heal from past trauma. It can focus on issues like anxiety, stress, relationships, and personal growth.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?+
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or facing personal or relationship struggles, therapy can provide guidance and support to help you make positive changes.
Is counseling confidential?+
Yes, counseling is confidential, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. This ensures a safe space to work through sensitive issues.
How is trauma treated in therapy?+
Trauma is treated with specialized techniques like EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches help process past trauma and heal emotional wounds.

Sessions & Process

What to Expect

How the process works from first session to progress.

What happens in the first session?+
In the first session, we will discuss your challenges, goals, and begin building trust. It is an opportunity to share your concerns and set a foundation for therapy.
How long will counseling take?+
The number of sessions varies. Some people see improvement in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy depending on the issues and goals.
Will we have joint or separate sessions?+
In couples and family counseling, joint sessions are typically used. However, individual sessions may be scheduled if needed to address personal issues.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?+
Please provide at least 48 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. I understand life happens and will try to accommodate changes when possible.
