Why Women Come Here

What Brings Women Here

Women do not come in because everything has fallen apart. They come in because they are tired of holding it all together and not feeling okay doing it.

Counseling for women in Katy, TX for the anxiety, burnout, life transitions, and quiet struggles that do not always have a name. Here are some of the most common starting points.

Anxiety and Overthinking

Your brain does not turn off. You replay conversations, prepare for things that have not happened yet, and still feel like you are missing something.

We will slow it down and figure out what is actually underneath all of that noise.

Burnout and Perfectionism

You have high standards and you always have. But somewhere along the way, the drive that made you capable started working against you.

We will build something more sustainable, and honestly, more enjoyable.

Life Transitions

Something is shifting, your career, your relationships, your identity, your body. Even when change is something you wanted, it can knock you sideways.

We will help you find your footing and move forward with more clarity.

Trauma and Past Experiences

Some things stay with you longer than they should. You know it logically, but knowing it does not make the patterns stop.

EMDR helps your brain actually process what happened, not just talk about it in circles.

Relationships and Disconnection

You feel distant, misunderstood, or like you keep having the same conversation without it going anywhere.

We will work on how you show up in relationships and what you actually need from them.

Perimenopause and Hormonal Shifts

The anxiety, the sleep issues, the mood swings, something feels off and you do not quite recognize yourself. This is real and it is biological.

You do not have to white-knuckle your way through it alone.

You are good at handling things. That has probably gotten you pretty far.

But there is a difference between coping and actually feeling okay.

This is a space to slow down, be honest about what is hard, and start feeling like yourself again.

You do not have to keep pushing through alone.

1

Getting Started

A Free 20 Minute Consultation

Before anything else, we talk. You share a little about what is going on, I answer your questions, and we figure out together whether working together feels right. There is no commitment and no intake paperwork yet. Just a real conversation.

2

Session 1

Your First Session

The first session is about understanding you, your history, what has been hard, what you want to feel differently. I will listen more than I talk. You will not be pushed to go somewhere you are not ready to go. We build safety first.

3

Early Sessions

Getting Underneath the Surface

A lot of the things women come in for, anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, have roots that go deeper than the presenting problem. Over the early sessions, we start to understand what is actually driving things and where it comes from. This is where the real work starts to take shape.

4

The Work

Building Real Change

Using approaches like EMDR, CBT, and IFS, we work on the actual patterns keeping you stuck. Not just insight, but real shifts in how you think, feel, and respond. Sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly or every other week.

5

Progress and Beyond

Noticing the Shift

Most women start to notice something different within the first several sessions. Not fixed, but lighter. More like yourself. Therapy is not forever. The goal is to give you tools that keep working long after our sessions end.

Most women feel relief just from making the first call. The hardest part is deciding to reach out.

The Approach

EMDR Therapy for Women in Katy, TX

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most research-backed approaches for trauma, anxiety, and the stuck patterns that talk therapy alone does not always reach.

Instead of just talking about what happened, EMDR helps your brain actually finish processing it. For a lot of women, it is the thing that finally moves the needle when nothing else has.

Learn More About My Approach

Process Trauma Without Reliving It

EMDR helps your nervous system work through difficult experiences without requiring you to recount every detail.

Quiet the Anxiety at the Root

Rather than just managing symptoms, EMDR addresses the experiences that are keeping your nervous system on high alert.

Break Patterns That Keep Repeating

When the same situations keep triggering the same reactions, EMDR helps interrupt the cycle at its source.

Used Alongside CBT and IFS

EMDR is one tool in a broader approach. We use what fits your needs, not a one-size-fits-all method.

Common Questions

Things Women Usually Wonder Before Starting

Honest answers to what most people want to know before booking their first session.

I function fine on the outside. Is therapy really for me?+
Yes. Honestly, most of the women I work with look like they have it together. They are capable, responsible, and holding a lot. The issue is not that they cannot function, it is that functioning does not feel like enough anymore. If you are tired in a way that rest does not fix, that is worth addressing.
What is EMDR and do I have to do it?+
EMDR is a research-backed approach that helps the brain process stuck memories and experiences. It does not require you to talk through every detail, and nothing happens without your consent. We discuss whether it is a good fit before we do anything. Some clients use it extensively; for others, a different approach works better. It is always your call.
How long does therapy usually take?+
It depends on what you are working on and how long it has been part of your life. Some women come in for a focused 8 to 10 sessions around a specific issue. Others work longer on deeper patterns. We talk about what makes sense for your goals at the start, and check in as we go. Therapy is not meant to be forever.
Do you offer virtual therapy for women in Texas?+
Yes. Virtual sessions are available throughout Texas, whether you are in Katy, Houston, Dallas, or anywhere in between. In-person sessions are held at the Katy office, and Charlie the therapy dog may make an appearance if that is your kind of environment.
What does a session actually feel like?+
Sessions are 50 minutes. We talk. I ask questions and actually listen to the answers. There is no homework you will definitely forget, no pressure to perform progress, and no awkward silences I will fill with advice you did not ask for. Some sessions feel lighter. Some bring up more. Both are part of doing real work.
I have tried therapy before and it did not really help. Why would this be different?+
That is a fair concern and worth bringing up in your consultation. Fit matters enormously in therapy. So does approach, sometimes people spend years in talk therapy without ever addressing the underlying patterns that are actually driving the problem. I use evidence-based methods including EMDR, CBT, and IFS because they are built to create real, measurable change. If something is not working, we adjust.
